National Train Control Centre (NTCC) in the Heuston Station, Dublin

RDI is cooperating with INDRA SISTEMAS, a Spanish multinational company in the information and communication technologies sector, in the development and installation of the project "National Train Control Centre". Conolly Station, which has managed train control by and large for the last 40 years on the Irish railway network, has reached its capacity and must be remodeled and move major part of its activity to a new site at Heuston station, the National Train Control Centre (NTCC).

RDI is focusing its activity on the implementation of different MOCK-UP units for validation and testing with users. Once the validation is completed, RDI will start manufacturing this benchmark project in the European railway sector.

The National Train Control Centre (NTCC) will be Iarnród Éireann’s centre for the management and regulation of train movements on the Iarnród Éireann network. The centre will also provide real-time customer information at stations, on website and social media platforms. The existing Iarnród Éireann central train control centre is due for replacement due to capacity constraints with the existing IT systems nearing life expiration.

The modern replacement National Train Control Centre enables the integration of signalling and communications control across the entire Iarnród Éireann network, making rail traffic management more efficient.

The facility will comprise of a 5,500m2 building constructed over 5 floors over basement. The basement level will serve as staff welfare area, locker rooms and first aid room while the upper floors will accommodate signalling and control rooms, office space, meeting rooms, staff facilities and also include secure areas to house plant and equipment areas.
